Subject: IASSIST in Madison, May 26 - 29 **PLAN TO COME**

[From Peter Burnhill, Edinburgh University Data Library]

The 18th annual conference of the International Association for Social Science
Information Service and Technology (IASSIST) will be held at the Concourse
Hotel in Madison, Wisconsin, U.S.A. from

TUESDAY, MAY 26 through FRIDAY, MAY 29, 1992.

The conference theme expresses IASSIST members' concern for managing and
sharing computer-readable data during a time of increasing demand coupled with
decreasing fiscal resources. The conference program features workshops,
contributed papers, roundtable discussions, and poster sessions reflecting
international viewpoints on these concerns.

IASSIST brings together individuals engaged in the acquisition, processing,
maintenance, and distribution of computer-readable text and numeric social
science data. Founded in 1974, the membership includes data archivists,
librarians, information specialists, social scientists, researchers, and
government agency administrators from around the world.
