One person who should know about the validity of Freud translation is
Randy Jones at Brigham Young University; he programmed the software for
the Freud concordance. By coincidence, as I was flying into Salt Lake
City to meet him about ten years ago, I was reading a New Yorker article
by Bettelheim that criticized the Ernest Jones translation for introduc-
ing concepts that did not match their counterparts when expressed in
German. I understand that Bettelheim expanded on this problem elsewhere.

Grant,
Could you clue me in on which program/scheme/whatever uses
% as the beginning and end of (underlining or italics) and =85 as
a-grave (If I've got that right). Thanks.

Postage for Politics of the Electronic Text is 1 pound within the UK, 2 pounds
within Europe, and 3 pounds elsewhere (just to save me answering hundreds of
queries on CTITEXT!).
