Subject: system failure

It appears that at 9 a.m. on Friday the ListProcessor for Humanist suffered
a "general system failure", as a result of which the membership list was
replaced by a list belonging to another discussion group. Humanist's own
true membership list has been restored from the last uncorrupted backup,
taken Thursday night. For the last few days, then, messages from Humanist
have been circulated to a rather bewildered group of people concerned with
ISO standards, many of whom rightly wanted to know what was happening. I am
assuming that you have not received messages sent out Friday through Monday,
so I am circulating these to you now. If you sent any messages to Humanist
during its unexpected metanoia, I would guess that they bounced back, with a
note to the effect that you were not subscribed. Please resend. ListProc
knows you and all is right with the world -- until the next time something
goes wrong.

Apologies on behalf of the software.
