I hate to say this, and it may not provide much solace, but the kind of
delay that N. Nettheim describes, disconcerting, indeed unacceptable as
it is, is not unusual, and I would be loath to say it's "unethical," as
the editor has not been totally unresponsive, etc. I've had similar
experiences with edited volumes, etc., and I would suggest that once we
have sent in a paper and had it accepted, we must expect that the
vagaries of issue topics, editorial "fit" for an issue, printers'
schedules, etc. will take their toll in months, perhaps years of waiting.
