Subject: ACH Ballots & Membership Renewals
[For those Humanists not aware of the ACH, a brief explanation. The
Association for Computers and the Humanities is the chief professional
organization for computing humanists in North America. Its best known
activity is the yearly joint conference it sponsors with its primarily
European counterpart, the Association for Literary and Linguistic
Computing. The ACH publishes a newsletter and has a peer-reviewed
journal, <t>Computers and the Humanities</t>, edited by Glyn Holmes
(Univ. of Western Ontario). For information on membership, see below.

The ACH ballots for the 1995 election and the membership renewals
for 1996 membership were unfortunately sent out quite late this
year. This is simply a notice that they are in the mail and should
arrive shortly. However, because some university mail systems close
down for extended periods of time during the holidays, we fear that
some of you may be de facto disenfranchised. We had set 15 January
as the closing date to return ballots. If it appears that this is a
problem we will move ot back a week in order to allow you to
respond. If you are an ACH member and have not received your ballot
and renewal letter by 1 January, please let me know via e-mail.
For those HUMANIST readers who are not ACH members I invite you to
contact our treasurer, Chuck Bush, at chuck_bush@byu.edu. He will
send you membership information.
