Subject: ACH seeks nominations for Exec Council elections in 2019!

> From: The Association for Computers and the Humanities (ACH)

The Association for Computers and the Humanities (ACH) invites
nominations for the 2019 elections, in which our members will elect
three Executive Council members for fourĀ-year terms (2019-2023).

We seek candidates eager to support and advance the field of digital
humanities (DH) by helping to lead the ACH. Please see our blog post
(http://ach.org/blog/2018/09/17/ach-2019-elections-call-for-nominations/)
for more information and instructions.

The election process does not require much effort: you share a short
paragraph about who are, and another short paragraph about what kinds of
work you might like to pursue as part of the ACH Exec. Our deadlines
have been slightly extended: we ask that all nominations (names of folks
who have agreed to run) are *submitted by 12/15*; *nominees have until
12/31 to submit their materials* (a few sentences about who they are,
and a few sentences about what you might be interested in working on or
advocating for if elected).

Past examples of kinds of work candidates wanted to do include wanting
to advocate for DH grad students, working toward DH being more
inclusive, and working with ACH members to identify things we can do for
them as their scholarly organization. Recent ACH Exec activities include
discussions that led to starting an ACH 2019/etc. conference series,
designing/debating a possible code of conduct for ACH event and virtual
spaces, mentoring and supporting students and early-career folks (e.g.
at DH2018 (http://ach.org/blog/2018/09/04/dh2018-conference/), and
staking public positions (e.g. on DH conferences and the risks of
crossing borders to attend them
(http://ach.org/blog/2017/02/24/ach-statement-on-digital-humanities-conferences-and-events/),
funding the NEH
(http://ach.org/blog/2017/01/31/ach-statement-in-support-of-the-national-endowment-for-the-humanities/),
and condemning the 1/27/2017 executive order
(http://ach.org/blog/2017/02/16/ach-condemns-eo-01272017/).

Sincerely,
Amanda Visconti
Chair, ACH Nominations Committee
