Subject: Study: Using TEI With Undergrads

> From: Heather McAlpine

Dear all,

In summer, I began work on a research project that examines the use of
text encoding activities to teach literature in an undergraduate
setting. I’m interested to discover what successes, what challenges, and
what outcomes instructors have found in using text encoding with
undergraduate students.

At that time, I sent around a call for participants who have used TEI
with undergraduates to answer a short list of questions via e-mail or
video conferencing, and I heard back from several people (huge thanks to
all those who answered!)

I’m now sending the call around once again in the hopes of enriching the
study by having a few more participants share their experiences. I aim
to produce an article that sheds light on some of the ways instructors
have used text encoding with undergraduates and what the wider DH and
digital pedagogy communities can learn from those experiences.

If you've tried incorporating a text encoding activity or assignment
into your undergraduate teaching, I would love to hear from you. Please
contact me: heather.mcalpine@ufv.ca.

Thanks in advance,
