The contract is renewable for up to three years in total. The deadline for applications is 20 March 2019, 1pm. The successful candidate will be responsible for the creation of 3D models of the undeciphered Aegean inscriptions (Cretan Hieroglyphic, Linear A and Cypro-Minoan), which date to the second millennium B.C. Candidates are expected to have advanced expertise in laser scanning techniques, RTI, and photogrammetry. The goal is the creation of a database where the 3D models will be complemented by a contextual interactive apparatus, offering a suite of additional tags, links and nodes, aimed at embedding the inscribed objects in their time, place and use. The appointed post doc in Digital Humanities will join the INSCRIBE team which comprises 4 archaeologists, 4 linguists, 1 anthropologist, 1 cognitive psychologist and 7 data scientists, all committed to studying the invention of writing in the world from a suite of combined novel methodologies.
