The ERC project INSCRIBE (Invention of Scripts and their
Beginnings), based at the University of Bologna, Italy, is delighted
to advertise a new position in Digital Humanities, initially for 12
months. The contract is renewable for up to three years in total.

The deadline for applications is 20 March 2019, 1pm.

NB: the salary is not subject to full taxation rates.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the creation of 3D
models of the undeciphered Aegean inscriptions (Cretan Hieroglyphic,
Linear A and Cypro-Minoan), which date to the second millennium B.C.
Candidates are expected to have advanced expertise in laser scanning
techniques, RTI, and photogrammetry. The goal is the creation of a
database where the 3D models will be complemented by a contextual
interactive apparatus, offering a suite of additional tags, links and
nodes, aimed at embedding the inscribed objects in their time, place
and use. The appointed post doc in Digital Humanities will join the
INSCRIBE team which comprises 4 archaeologists, 4 linguists, 1
anthropologist, 1 cognitive psychologist and 7 data scientists, all
committed to studying the invention of writing in the world from a
suite of combined novel methodologies.

Investigator of INSCRIBE, Professor Silvia Ferrara: s.ferrara@unibo.it
