Department of Linguistics. University of Kentucky. The Department of Linguistics at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Linguistics to begin August 2020. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated research expertise using the tools and methodologies of computational linguistics in pursuit of theoretical linguistic questions, and an ability to teach courses in a range of computational and theoretical areas. We encourage candidates who apply computational methods in one or more of the following areas: syntax, semantics, phonology, phonetics, sociolinguistics, or historical linguistics. As a department and university, we are strongly committed to creating an inclusive and effective teaching, learning, research, and working environment for all. Responsibilities of the position include pursuing an active research program and teaching a total of four courses per year at the introductory, advanced undergraduate, and graduate levels. Responsibilities also include active participation in the academic life of the department, collaboration with units across campus (e.g., Computer Science, Modern and Classical Languages, Hispanic Studies), pursuing external funding, and providing service to the university and the discipline.
