Humanist Discussion Group, Vol. 33, No. 413. Department of Digital Humanities, King's College London Hosted by King's Digital Lab www.dhhumanist.org Submit to: humanist@dhhumanist.org Date: 2019-11-16 18:03:06+00:00 From: Quinn DombrowskiSubject: Multilingual DH group Dear all, Following a workshop on doing DH in non-Latin scripts at DH 2019, a group of people interested in increasing support for DH in languages other than English has put together a grass-roots initiative to aggregate and annotate information about existing tools and resources at http://multilingualdh.org/. (Much work remains to be done on the site, including setting up the infrastructure to support translating it.) We also have a mailing list set up for discussion (in any language) of multilingual DH issues: https://mailman.stanford.edu/mailman/listinfo/multilingual-dh. All are welcome! In addition to expanding the infrastructure, content, and translations of the website, we are in the process of drafting an ADHO SIG proposal. As GO::DH is in the process of applying to become a CO in order to better advocate for people doing DH work in areas of the world that don't have a CO, we believe there is a need for a SIG focused on supporting linguistic diversity in DH. We welcome input on the proposal in this Google Doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1K3mbH0uGboEMgl9tQKeWCtGCmWiA1IEZcfX_vVIgbe8/ edit?usp=sharing There's also a space to add your name as a supporter. If your DH work involves languages other than English, weâd love to have you join us! I'm also happy to answer any questions, via email or Twitter (@quinnanya).
