Dear Willard,

Kindly allow me to wish you and our friends of Humanist by recalling one of
your favorite quotations, by Mosheh ben Maimon: "Whatever you do, do it
only out of love". It is the same concept expressed also by St. Augustine:
"Love and do what you will" (*Sermon on 1 John* 4:4-12), as well as by St.
Paul: "Whatever you do, do it with kindness and love" (1 Corinthians
16:14-16).

I read once that 'kindness is charity in little things'. Through this
exercise, sometimes painful since it may collide with our interests,
instinctive repulsions, and so on, we may train a habit of love in whatever
we do.

The exercise, the business of kindness!

May our so often distressed world find in 'charity in little things' a way
of redemption from the alienation of hatred and divisions.

A very happy Christmas and New Year!

Kind regards,
Marinella
