        From: Kristen Mapes
Subject: Position: Scholarly Communications Librarian, Michigan State University

Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to spread the word about a new Scholarly Communications Librarian
position at Michigan State University Libraries.

Scholarly Communications Librarian
https://careers.msu.edu/en-us/job/503298/scholarly-communications-librarian-iii-
continuing
Application closes: March 25, 2020
Note: MLIS required ; minimum salary $52,000 ; MSU Librarians have tenure
(called 'continuing appointment'), which includes representation on all
university faculty committees, etc

"The Michigan State University (MSU) Libraries invites candidates to bring fresh
perspectives to our Scholarly Communications Librarian position. The Scholarly
Communications Librarian is a faculty position responsible for developing and
delivering an active program of education, training, advocacy, support and
information sharing regarding a wide range of issues that promote effective
sharing and barrier-free access to scholarly resources. Reporting to the
Associate Director for Collections, this position will lead the MSU Libraries’
efforts to promote scholarly publication reform and Open Access (OA) activities
at MSU. This role includes educating the university community about the various
scholarly publishing models and their impact on scholarly inquiry and
instruction. This librarian will work to recruit, collect, showcase and preserve
the scholarly output of MSU."

This is a completely new position and will enrich the already exciting and
robust work happening on our campus in OER, open access, and digital
scholarship. In particular, we are the first university to create a university
node of Humanities Commons - MSU Commons - that will serve as a social hub for
our community as well as the institutional repository for MSU. That's just a
window into all the digital scholarship work going on at MSU Libraries and
across campus. Feel free to reach out with questions, and please spread the
word.

Thanks,
Kristen
