Humanist Discussion Group, Vol. 33, No. 761. Department of Digital Humanities, King's College London Hosted by King's Digital Lab www.dhhumanist.org Submit to: humanist@dhhumanist.org Date: 2020-04-13 17:52:19+00:00 From: Henry SchafferSubject: Re: [Humanist] 33.757: on using academia.edu One thing about academia.edu that annoys me. I get several emails per day from them because they found that someone 10 years ago cited a publication of mine from 15 years ago and perhaps I want to look at that new publication. Or that I looked at something at academia and there is something else that their computer algorithm says is similar that I certainly want to read. And then I click to go to their site - and often, not every time, it tells me that I could access that information, that very important information that I clicked to get - but that I need to pay for a Premium membership which is usually $20 USD/month, but I can have it for only $99 USD/year. I guess I'm an ungrateful wretch, but I just refuse to Upgrade to Premium. --henry P.S. I do make an annual donation to the Internet Archive. _______________________________________________ Unsubscribe at: http://dhhumanist.org/Restricted List posts to: humanist@dhhumanist.org List info and archives at at: http://dhhumanist.org Listmember interface at: http://dhhumanist.org/Restricted/ Subscribe at: http://dhhumanist.org/membership_form.php
