Today I found Hilary Green being interviewed by Julian C. Chambliss on
Transformatative Digital History in the series Reframing History.

The interview is about in part her project Hallow Grounds which "started off
with a student question and comment that slavery did not exist at the University
of Alabama".

The project Hallowed Grounds is a rich resource and a fine example of digital
humanities applied to the ongoing questions of reparations and history. It
includes a walking tours of the campus (which you can listen to and take the
walk virtually).

I am reminded of quotation attributed to Walter Benjamin "History is written
by the victors." -- the victors are the patient ones willing to outlast the
conquerors.

Or to invoke the epigraph used by Dr. Green :

"To accept one's past - one's history is not the same thing as drowning in it;
it is learning how to use it. An invented past can never be used; it cracks and
crumbles under the pressures of life, like clay in a season of drought." - James
Baldwin

Clay in a season of drought can be collected to make pottery (which will
eventually be smashed).
