Humanist Discussion Group, Vol. 34, No. 229. Department of Digital Humanities, King's College London Hosted by King's Digital Lab www.dhhumanist.org Submit to: humanist@dhhumanist.org Date: 2021-02-18 11:13:53+00:00 From: Willard McCartySubject: conversation after long silence Dear colleagues, As you may recall, Humanist ceased operations at King's College London on 14 August 2020. Subsequently, with the cooperation of King's Digital Lab, Humanist began its move to the University of Cologne. Thanks to the concerted work of Kai Niebes, Jan Wieners and Øyvind Eide at Cologne, Brian Maher, Tim Watts and Arianna Ciula at King's, the move has been completed successfully. Humanist is now on the verge of resuming regular service. Only one hitch: old subscriptions have not been carried over. This means that whether you were a member of Humanist prior to the hiatus or applied to join after that, you will need to resubscribe. This is done to satisfy all legal conditions of the move and to protect your personal data. To resubscribe, go to https://miskatonic.hki.uni-koeln.de/membership_form.php and fill in the form. In due course I will sent out a welcome message and discussions can resume as before. Please note that all messages that were sent to Humanist on or after the hiatus have been lost. They are not part of the public archive and so should be resent to the new list. The Humanist archive (1987-summer 2020) is accessible at https://humanist.kdl.kcl.ac.uk/ and hosted and maintained by King’s Digital Lab (KDL), King’s College London, until full migration to the University of Cologne is complete in 2021. Details on KDL privacy policy can be found at https://kdl.kcl.ac.uk/privacy-policy/, with information on KDL hosting and maintenance services at https://kdl.kcl.ac.uk/how-we-work/kdl-designed-developed-and-maintained/. One member of this seminar remarked to me some time ago that due to the advancing age of the membership it may turn out that few have noticed Humanist's absence :-). Let that not be so!. I hope that there are at least a few here who, like me, have with every passing day missed the opportunity to talk about things that matter regarding scholarly computing in the human sciences. At long last the long silence will soon be over!
